The “Making of Penderecki Aphex Twin & Greenwood” video is ready! 2011-11-23
Our agency produced a double concert entitled “Penderecki, Aphex Twin & Greenwood“ at the Millennium Hall in Wrocław. The project was staged during the European Culture Congress and was unanimously hailed as the pinnacle of “Attention Culture!”, the cultural programme of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council in 2011. And now an exciting “Making of” video from that event is ready for viewing!
Filip Berkowicz, the Artistic Director of the Actus Humanus Festival (and of other major Polish events: Sacrum Profanum, Misteria Paschalia and Opera Rara), was the Programme Director and Curator of the concert. Event-factory was responsible for a comprehensive management and production of this mass event. The agency was also tasked with the development of the production script, light and stage design and the uniquely ascetic concert visualisation. In early September, on two consecutive nights, the Centennial Hall in Wrocław saw a meeting of exceptional artists from two extremes of the music world: Krzysztof Penderecki, a giant of contemporary classical music, Aphex Twin, a guru of electronic sounds and Jonny Greenwood, a guitarist of the legendary Radiohead formation. Krzysztof Penderecki contributed three compositions: “Polymorphia”, “Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima” and “Canon”. Fifty years after its first performance, “Polymorphia” was the inspiration for the invited guests. Jonny Greenwood introduced his “48 Responses to Polymorphia”, while Aphex Twin played his “Polymorphia Reloaded”, both in their first-ever performances. The star performers were accompanied by the OCTAVA ensemble and by the AUKSO Town of Tychy Chamber Orchestra under Marek Moś. The concerts became the centrepieces of the cultural agenda of the Polish Presidency attracting 10 thousand spectators to the Centennial Hall. People cued up for hours to see these ultramodern musical shows. Indeed, the original music was accompanied by equally as original visualisation, which highlighted every sound, and by the unique architecture of the venue. Multimedia projections and dazzling laser shows of Aphex Twin, prepared in cooperation with event-factory, brought the audience to their feet in a final standing ovation. The events involved technically advanced production involving powerful stereo sound, modern stage design, multimedia (visualisation) and visual (laser and light show) solutions. This production sets a new direction in overcoming and obliterating boundaries between classical music and ambitious pop. The collaboration between Krzysztof Penderecki, Jonny Greenwood and Aphex Twin was a truly ground-breaking event at a global scale and elicited worldwide comments as a historically unprecedented event.
