Ball in play: event-factory to prepare event concept for the opening ceremony of the National Stadium! 2010-11-07

The consortium created by event-factory and KTO Theatre has been qualified to the second stage of the National Stadium grand opening concept contest. The grand opening event is to be organized by a company selected from a group of 20 bidders chosen among the best mass events organizers all over the country. The event is to take place on a chosen date between August 20 and September 3, 2011. According to the contest rules, in order to be qualified for the second stage of the contest and be able to contend for the chance to produce the event, it was necessary to exhibit experience in organizing mass events by showing at least 3 projects for a minimum of 15000 people carried out over the last 3 years. The contest rules also clearly specify, which make us very happy, that the preferred attraction is to be a theatre production and not a star concert. Our experiences in this regard, be it the organization of the 30-th anniversary of the Solidarity movement at the Warsaw Steelworks, or the organization of other such events, like the outdoor events of the Sacrum Profanum Festival, Misteria Paschalia, Wianki, or the 25-th anniversary of the Solidarity movement in Gdańsk, combined with the experience of Jerzy Zoń and the KTO Theatre who specialize in large scale outdoor theatre productions for even 100 000 spectators, create an explosive mixture of professionalism, experience and unorthodox solutions. We have enlisted the cooperation of top class choreographers, composers , musicians, arrangers, lighting engineers, multimedia and special effects experts as well as stunt men. The names will not be disclosed at this time. The Warsaw National Stadium is one of the arenas being built for the European Football Championships UEFA EURO 2012. The construction is to be completed in June 2011. The National Stadium is being built on the site of the old Dziesięciolecie Stadium. The National Sport Center, a state owned company founded by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism is responsible for the construction of the facility as well as the preparation of the management structure of the entire sports-business complex. During the UEFA Euro 2012TM tournament the National Stadium will host three group matches, the tournament opening match with official ceremony, one quarter final and one semi-final match. The stadium will be capable of seating 55 thousand spectators. The National Stadium in Warsaw was designed by the consortium of JSK Architekci sp. z o.o., gmp International GmbH and Schlaich Bergermann und Partner. It will be the largest and most modern sports facility in Poland.
